K. . . please keep in mind that I'm a first time mommy. I don't know what I'm doing and I believe Haden dropped his manual during the delivery process. I can't find it!
So, Haden is now 6 months old. We've been giving him food now. You know, the baby 1st stage stuff. He really enjoys it. We've also cut out all nursing during the day. The rest of the feedings are formula bottles. Here's the problem. . . Haden's poo is different!!! I know this is normal, right? He just hasn't been pooing as much. And it looks like it hurts the poor little guy! Am I crazy that I'm concerned about this. Please help me ease my mind! I thank you in advance. Love you all!
Here's a cute picture for you to see what he's up to this week as well.

That's totally normal when they switch over to formula. He should still have regular bowel movements though--at least once a day I think. Call your doc to be certain on how regular it should be.
Parker has always been on formula, but since he's been eating baby food, he's been really irregular. Like im talking only going ever 5 days. It was pretty bad there for a while, where we had to dig him out everytime and he was in sooo much pain. So we were told just to make sure to give him juice everyday and dilute his formula just a little. It has been helping so far. Good Luck
You remind me of me! Except for the fact that I am on my 4th baby and I still worry about this stuff;) But yes it's normal! The pooping should still be soft though and regular. We got gas drops to help the tummy pain of it for our babies and maybe something you are feeding him is not agreeing with him. Maybe take something out of his diet and reintroduce it to see which food may be causing mister cutie pants to be plugged;) good luck and I will be awaiting your advice after this baby arrives shortly, I'm not joking. I worry! but what are moms for?!
Yes it is totally normal!!!! Formula and breast milk digest differently. Sometimes Bryton would go 3 days without a bowel movement, but then it'd ALL come out. They do tend to get more tummy aches on formula if they're "backed up"
no worries, he'll be fine. And it'll change colors too, that's fun :)
Some kinds of formula can constipate them. I had a friend that had to try out a couple until she found one that was more gentle on his tummy. You can also add dark karo syrup to his bottle if he needs help. But once they start solid foods it definitely changes everything.
It's completely normal. My kids are bottle fed the entire time and they will poo maybe once every other day. They say a baby can go over ten days and still not have anything to worry about. If it's super super hard, with no moistness to it, and really small and pebble-ish (gross description I know) then I would take him in just to make sure, for your peace of mind! You are doing great, and the fact that you are asking questions to other mom's proves that you are a great mom to that little boy!!
It seems like all my kids went through that stage too. I remember being really worried because BriLynn hadn't gone in like four or five days. If you are really worried call your doctor. If it were me I would wait. Also if your worried about constipation give him some apple juice.
Hey Susi, you sound like all moms I think! His stool looks different usually because a. the food changes the color of it and b. there is a lot more iron in formula which can darken the stool, or change it more green-like. If you are concerned that he is getting a little constipated, use some apple juice in his rice cereal, Josh LOVED it much more than just plain, or give him some applesauce...it usually cleans them out well! If you see that he still just doesn't go regularly, then contact your MD! Never hurts to call and talk to their nurse! That is what they are there for! :)
Prunes work well as well as a littl bit of 50/50 juice water 1 time per day. His body will figure it out after a while.
